On January 21, Apple published the results for the first quarter 2009. Despite strong sales of Macs and iPods what’s interesting for us as iPhone developers are the sales figures of this device. About 4.3 million iPhones have been sold which represents a 88% increase in unit sales over the year-ago quarter. It’s now sold in 70 countries. (more…)

Of course there are some new features like Cover Flow which were first delivered with the iPhone because of it’s unique capabilities. iPhone OS Wishlist: General
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008The iPhone is a wonderful device and the applications shipped with it by default are great and easy to use. However, they are pretty limited and every once in a while I come to the point where I’d wish that they’d provide more features. In this post I’ve compiled a wishlist for general features and enhancements that would make the device even better. Of course there are thousands of apps available in the App Store which provide some of the features I will talk about. But having them implemented in the original apps would make same more useful. Perhaps one or the other feature will show up in a future release of the iPhone OS. (more…)
Misson accomplished!
Saturday, November 1st, 2008When Steve Jobs introduced the first generation iPhone on the Macworld San Francisco 2007 he said that Apple intends to sell 10.000.000 iPhones in 2008, which would equal about 1% of all cell phones sold in 2006. This seemed a very aggresive target. But with the release of the results of the 4th quarter of 2008 this goal is reached: 11.627.000 iPhones have been sold in the first 9 month of 2008. In the 3rd quarter alone, 6.892.000 units have been shipped to customers. In total 13.016.000 devices have been sold since the release in June 2007. (more…)
