When Steve Jobs introduced the first generation iPhone on the Macworld San Francisco 2007 he said that Apple intends to sell 10.000.000 iPhones in 2008, which would equal about 1% of all cell phones sold in 2006. This seemed a very aggresive target. But with the release of the results of the 4th quarter of 2008 this goal is reached: 11.627.000 iPhones have been sold in the first 9 month of 2008. In the 3rd quarter alone, 6.892.000 units have been shipped to customers. In total 13.016.000 devices have been sold since the release in June 2007. (more…)
